THE COVENANT PLEDGE
I ______________ Pledge to strive for the betterment of the city of Newark, New Jersey to the benefits of its residents. I Pledge to bestow upon the city and the people of the city my prayers, affections, and service and to sustain the cities spiritual heritage, godly principles, laws and ordinances. I Pledge to walk circumspectly amongst family, relatives. friends and neighbors with consideration given to the residual impact of unrighteous and ungodly behavior, words, and deeds.
I Pledge to be kind and just to any and all who may work under me, and faithful to the service I am employed to provide to others. I Pledge to be exemplary in my commitment to courtesy, fairness, and honesty, and Pledge to refrain from needless exposing the infirmities of others but yet instead to bear another's burdens with compassion and forgiveness.
I further Pledge to refrain from the six things the Lord hates, and from the seventh so that I am not an abomination to Him...a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imagination, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and one that soweth discord among brethren.
Now may the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Sheperd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me perfect in every good work to do his will, working in me that which is well pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be the Glory, forever and ever Amen.
